From Samuel Bagster's Daily Light for the Daily Path Devotional [c. 1875]
...with application and prayer responses by me...
The path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. Prov. 4:18
More and more...reminds me of the hymn,

- By and by when I look on His face,
Beautiful face, thorn shadowed face;
By and by when I look on His face,
I'll wish I had given Him more.
More, so much more,
More of my life than I e'er gave before
By and by when I look on His face,
I'll wish I had given Him more.
By and by when He holds out His hands,
Welcoming hands, nail riven hands;
By and by when He holds out His hands,
I'll wish I had given Him more.
More, so much more,
More of my love than I e'er gave before,
By and by when He holds out His hands,
I'll wish I had given Him more.
In the light of that heavenly place,
Light from His face, beautiful face;
In the light of that heavenly place,
I'll wish I had given Him more.
More, so much more,
Treasures unbounded for Him I adore,
By and by when I look on His face,
I'll wish I had given Him more.
Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Phil. 3:12
I weary of Christians who purport as though they have arrived at all maturity, that they have 'already attained'...
Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD. Hos. 6:3
...follow on...continuous action...we must not falter in the following, for then that would then be wallowing!
Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Matt. 13:43
Ah, shine like the sun! in the kingdom, safety and dominion of our Father!
We all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. II Cor. 3:18
Lord, cause me to come to a new level of Thy glory!
When that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. I Cor. 13:10
'that which is perfect'...the completed revelation of Scripture, not likely the 2nd coming of Christ
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. I Cor. 13:12
Face to Face
Words: Carrie E. Breck, 1898.
Music: Grant C. Tullar
Face to face with Christ, my Savior,
Face to face—what will it be,
When with rapture I behold Him,
Jesus Christ Who died for me?
Refrain
Face to face I shall behold Him,
Far beyond the starry sky;
Face to face in all His glory,
I shall see Him by and by!
Only faintly now I see Him,
With the darkened veil between,
But a blessèd day is coming,
When His glory shall be seen.
Refrain
What rejoicing in His presence,
When are banished grief and pain;
When the crooked ways are straightened,
And the dark things shall be plain.
Refrain
Face to face—oh, blissful moment!
Face to face—to see and know;
Face to face with my Redeemer,
Jesus Christ Who loves me so.
Refrain
Beloved, now are we the sons of God; and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. I John 3:2, 3
Ah! Someday...someday...we shall be like Him! O to be like Thee!
